I was only 12
years old. I didn’t understand myself but I knew if I’m ever to get married one
day, I’ll marry a black, tall and handsome MAN. I was only 12 when South Africa
legalized gay marriage. Taboo, disgusting, disgrace and
wait for it “A SIN”.

On the 26th
June 2015 the Supreme Court in Washington DC
extended the right for lesbians and gays to get married. This means that couple
of the same sex can get married. The ruling was made by a majority vote of 5-4.
Some people disclosed they’re disapproval about the ruling.

The president
of the United States said in
doing so, they’ve reaffirmed that all Americans are entitled to the equal
protection of the law. Profound words spoken by the President Barack Obama.

Gay couples are happy to be part of a country that allows
everyone to be who they want to be with. What excites me about this decision, a
decision my own country (South Africa) took years ago, it allows love to win.
